modern dwelling within a historic setting
We worked alongside Philip Price Surveyors to secure planning permission and listed building consent for a contemporary designed residential property, adjacent to a Grade II listed building.
The proposal included the demolition of an unused garage and greenhouse and alterations to the extension of the Grade II listed building to allow for a detached bungalow with associated car parking and turning facilities.
Following initial discussions it was proposed that the design would include a link structure to replace the garage, which retained the 'courtyard effect' of the listed property. The Conservation Officer determined that the proposal would cause less than substantial harm to the significance of the asset under paragraph 134 of the NPPF and the Case Officer concluded that the public benefits of the proposal would outweigh any harm caused.
